We can now offer teas from this garden as organic! The tea industry is now Rwanda's strongest economic sector. Over 90% of all production is exported. The Rukeri plantation was planted by Europeans almost 50 years ago and produces only about 700 tons of orthodox tea per year. This quality has a medium, wiry, dark brown leaf and silver leaf tips. The taste is slightly spicy with a nice citrus note. A spicy-fresh bouquet unfolds above the brightly shining cup.

Black Earl Grey - a fresh classicA black tea flavoured with the fruity oil of bergamot. This citrus fruit, originally from Asia, gives the tea a fresh and lemony note. Legend has it that a ship carrying Chinese tea on its way to England was caught in a storm. The loaded crates fell into disarray and were partly damaged. Bergamot oil got into some of the black tea being carried. The aristocratic politician Earl Grey is said to have felt sorry for the supposedly spoilt tea and tasted it. Lo and behold, the combination of a quality black tea and the oil of bergamot remains a worldwide classic to this day.Black tea, natural flavour.
