This blend has its origins in the caravans that transported tea from China along the Silk Road to Russia. The smoky flavour of the campfires is said to have been transferred to the teas stored nearby. Initially seen as a shortcoming, over time this developed into a characteristic of caravan teas. Although the teas selected for our blend came to us by sea, they are in no way inferior to the original: The finest earthy, spicy Yunnan teas are complemented with sweet, smoky Keemun and a "splash" of Lapsang Souchong, resulting in a full-bodied, highly aromatic tea with a subtle smoky flavour.
