This very special coffee, also called "cat coffee", comes from the island of Java in Indonesia. These are coffee beans that are eaten and excreted by a certain species of creeping cat. "Kopi" is the Indonesian name for coffee and "Luwak" refers to the weasel-like, nocturnal tree dweller that feeds on the pulp of the coffee cherries. The non-digestible coffee beans, however, are naturally fermented by the animals' enzymes so that the familiar dark and full aroma can develop. And so these thoroughly washed and delicately roasted beans enchant a growing fan community all over the world.Character and tasteThe Kopi Luwak is clearly less bitter than other types of coffee. Its spicy, full aroma is syrupy and has delicate bitter, chocolaty nuances with slightly woody notes. In the aftertaste, it shines with its mild acidity.
